This training covers the very minimum of what you need to know about WordPress and goes over just enough information for you to be able to make very basic edits for simple tasks.
You will take an exam with the Fulfillment Manager. When you’ve finished the training, feel free to go over the exam and then schedule a time to take the exam.
WordPress is an online, open source website creation tool written in PHP. It is one of the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management systems (CMS). Essentially – WordPress is an easy-to-use website builder that does not require you to know how to code. The majority of Sebo’s clients’ websites are built with WordPress.
You will be required to have a basic understanding of how to make content changes with WordPress for beginner SEO and PPC tasks.
80% of Sebo’s clients use WordPress for their websites. You will become very familiar with WordPress over time. The first thing you need to learn and commit to memory is how to login to a WordPress website. Let me show you how:
Visit the client’s website
At the end of the URL add “/wp-admin” (usually you can also do “/admin” or as a fallback, you can do “/wp-login.php”)
Example: sebomarketing.com/wp-admin
On rare occasions some WordPress sites have extra settings in place that might change the login URLs, but most sites use the default login URL. If you are unable to access the login page then ask our Tech Team for assistance.
Once you visit this page just enter the username and password. The logins should be saved in LastPass if Sebo has already worked with the site
The following is the main difference between posts and pages:
Posts (think of blog posts) are content entries listed in reverse chronological order on your blog’s home page
Pages are meant to be static “one-off” type content such as your home page, privacy policy, legal disclaimers, service pages, etc.
How to Access Page/Post Editor
After logging into WordPress, you can either:
access the page or post you are looking for in the backend of the WordPress site by going to the Pages or Posts tab in the left hand menu and then finding what you are trying to edit from the list.
OR
directly visit the URL you are trying to edit and select the editor from the front-end
Scroll down the page editor until you get to Yoast SEO. You can then edit the SEO title and Meta Description sections. You can also see a preview of how the Title Tag and Meta Description will appear in a Google Search result.
Edit Heading Text
When editing heading text, make sure you are editing the correct text. If you’re trying to edit the H1, are you actually editing the H1 or a different heading text?
Edit Paragraph Text
You can add new text to a page by creating a new text block element.
Edit Image Alt Text
You can edit the alt text from the media library or within the page the image is on that you’re wanting to edit.
