Logging in to WordPress

80% of Sebo’s clients use WordPress for their websites.  You will become very familiar with WordPress over time.  The first thing you need to learn and commit to memory is how to login to a WordPress website.  Let me show you how:

  1. Visit the client’s website
  2. At the end of the URL add “/wp-admin”  (usually you can also do “/admin” or as a fallback, you can do “/wp-login.php”)
    Example: sebomarketing.com/wp-admin
  • On rare occasions some WordPress sites have extra settings in place that might change the login URLs or have other measures in place but most sites use the default login URL.  If you are unable to access the login page then ask our Tech Team for assistance.
  • Once you visit this page just enter the username and password.  The logins should be saved in LastPass if Sebo has already worked with the site

Key thing to remember is: /wp-admin

Dashboard Components

When you first log in to a WordPress site, you will end up on the main dashboard.  You will notice on the left, there is a sidebar with lots of options.  Everything you can do inside of WordPress can be accessed from the sidebar.  You will also notice that there is a top bar as well.  When you click on the site name, it will switch you to the front-end of the website (what site visitors see).  If you are logged in on the website you will still see the top bar which will give you quick access back to the dashboard as well as adding a new post/page/etc or edit the page you are currently on.
