Campaign Settings

Compared to Google Ads, settings decided at the campaign level are fairly sparse in Meta Ads. There are only 5 or 6. I’ll give a brief overview of what each setting is, but for a more comprehensive look, please watch the video above.

  • Campaign Name

  • Special Ad Categories

    • This section is trying to determine whether or not you are trying to run ads of a sensitive nature or if any additional verifications are needed in order for you to be able to run your ads. It will ask you if your ads deal with any of the following categories: CreditEmploymentHousingSocial Issues/Elections. If they do, you either won’t be able to run your ads, or you will have to take a few more steps (for example, identity verification)
  • Campaign Details

    • This section allows you to set 2 different settings:
      • Buying Type (auction or reservation). Watch the video for more details
      • Campaign Objective. This is a big one that will affect your ad sets and ads. For a full breakdown, visit this training
  • Advantage Campaign Budget

    • Although ad set level budgets are the default, you can set a campaign level budget as well. Visit this training for a further breakdown
  • A/B Test

    • If you enable this, all it does is add another step at the end of the ad creation process that allows you to set up an A/B test version of your ad. Even if you don’t enable this option here, you can set up an A/B test later with no problem
