FTP & Editor Programs

There are several programs available for FTP and code editing.  Here are a few programs:

FTP/SFTP

  • Cyberduck
  • FileZilla
  • WinSCP
  • Transmit

Code Editors

  • Sublime Text 3
  • Notepad++
  • Atom
  • Brackets

Although you don’t have to use Cyberduck and Sublime Text 3 if you have programs you prefer to use all of the trainings will be done using these programs and so if you are new to these apps then I would recommend that you use Cyberduck and Sublime as well.

Create an FTP user in CPanel

After you create an FTP user please be sure to save the details in LastPass so we have access to it again.

Information that needs to be saved:

SFTP vs FTP
Port #
Username:
Server URL or IP
Password

Child Theme (Installation & GTM)

Child Themes

You would want to make sure a site is using a child theme if you ever need to customize the core files of a theme that can receive updates.

If the site doesn’t already have a child theme you can create one with a plugin.  Just search for child theme and you will find a configurator plugin.

What are some customizations that you might need to make?

  • If you wanted to add GTM code to the core files rather than using a plugin
  • You need to make a change to the template that is hard coded into the PHP files

Sign a Client up For Hosting

How to create a Sebo hosted account for a client:

Have the client go to sebo.io (link is also found in the footer of SeboMarketing.com) and sign up for the hosting plan of their choosing.

In either case, they do not including Site Edits and maintenance requests.  That would be billed hourly on top of hosting charges.  Also note that our hosting plans will not include email hosting.  If a client needs email hosting they should use Google Workspace.

How to create an A2 Hosted account for a client:
