- Who is my target audience?
- What are their pain points and needs?
- What types of content do these people want to consume?
- Where are they currently having conversations (online or offline)?
- What unique expertise does our brand offer?

Steps to build your content strategy
- Set your goals
- What is the end goal of the project? Do you want to grow sales by a certain percentage? Get more people to a specific page?
- Identify your primary audience and their pain points
- Talk with customer service, sales, technical support, product management, product marketing, social media marketing. Get an idea from these people what clients/customers are asking and wondering about. What you clients are asking about are common things they are having problems with and can be a great source for content.
- Determine your brand’s unique expertise
- Even if it seems boring it’s okay, but it should be something that your company can do better than anybody else. It’s why your target audience should pick you over your competitor.
- Figure out your content tilt (tilt is the intersection between your brand’s expertise and your audience’s pain points.)
- Using pain points and your unique expertise, figure out what your content angle will look like.
- Develop a list of potential content topics based on your content tilt.
- Based on what you’ve discovered, what topics should your brand be creating content about.
- Conduct keyword research.
- Create an editorial calendar.
- Determine how to measure success.
- Create content.
