Conversion Tracking Checklists

1. Google Analytics

GA4

    • Data Stream is firing on the website (Check Tag Assistant)
    • Internal traffic filters are set up
    • Google Signals is enabled
    • Analytics is connected to Search Console & the Search Console report is enabled
    • All forms on the website go to thank-you pages
    • There is a goal for every thank-you page
    • CallRail goals or click-to-call tracking is set up.
      • CallRail “Unique Phone Calls” goal is most common and set up as an Event Goal
        • Category = Phone
        • Label = .*Call-01
    • All other types of Goals are set up (if other than a form fill or phone call, the MC will let you know).
    • All goals have a goal value

2. Ecommerce (if applicable)

    • Tracking Codes are set up on the website & Analytics is collecting data

3. Google Tag Manager

    • GTM code is firing on the website (Check Tag Assistant)
    • All goals that are not destination goals are being tracked with a tag, a trigger and an associated goal in Google Analytics
    • All important Events that are not goals are being tracked with a tag and a trigger (for example, set up events for email clicks and other button clicks, videos, etc.)
    • There are no generic click triggers in place
    • You’ve tested that the tags fire in Preview Mode when they should

4. Google Ads

    • Auto-tagging is enabled (Linked accounts >> Google Analytics)
    • Google Analytics account is linked to Google Ads account
    • All relevant Conversions are imported from Google Analytics
    • Call Tracking is enabled
    • If not using CallRail: Website Call Tracking (Google Ads DNI) is set up through GTM
    • Conversion Linker is set up through GTM
    • Call extension is created
    • Connected to clients Google my business to get Google Hosted actions

5. CallRail

    • Javascript is implemented through plugin OR through GTM
    • Analytics account is connected to CallRail
    • You’re tracking only calls that are of a certain length – determined by the MC.
    • CallRail is being tracked in Google ads
      • Import goal from Analytics

6. Other

    • Are there any other sources of data that need to be tracked? Offline forms, payment gateways, connecting websites, other third parties?
