This section is rather simple to fill out. The template can be found on the “Backlink Profile” tab in the SEO Audit that you have been working on. Note that you will need to use both ahrefs.com and Search Console to fill out the chart.
AFREFs Section
*There is not a great way to get the historical data for backlinks. You can skip that section for past months in the exam.
Search Console Section
Go to Performance -> Search Results. Check the boxes for all four metrics. Change the date for the dates you need. Fill in the chart month by month.
Sometimes an MC asks for an more in-depth analysis. When it comes to backlinks here are a few things we want to look at:
- the number of links total and per page backlink profile > backlinks
- the number of referring domains total and per page
- the link to domain ratio – generally the closer this number is to 1, the better
- Broken backlinks Under Backlinks > Broken
- Outbound links Outgoing links > linked domains Sort outbound by dofollow, count total links
- Featured Snippets Organic KWs > Filter by SERP Features “people also ask” and “featured snippet”
- Keyword opportunities and Keyword Difficulty Organic KW
You can create a custom report for the MC using these metrics.
- Using the same In-Depth Audit you have been using, fill out the Backlink Profile tab.
