Google Search Console gives us insights into how google sees our client’s website.

Watch the video below and then review each of the outlined Search tasks beneath that. Log into Sebo’s Search Console account to review each task within an existing Search Console Account.

Check if Search Console is Linked to Analytics

Check to See if Total Clicks is Working Properly

Method 1:

Make sure the Clicks Column in Analytics isn’t showing 0 clicks (see image on the right).

Method 2:

Check Search Console total clicks.

View the Performance Report

Identify 5 Keywords with High Impressions & Low Click Through Rate

Check Links to Your Site & Internal Links. Any Red Flags?

External Links: Look at Top Linked Pages & Top Linking Sites under External Links. Are the links spread out from a variety of sources? Are a high percentage of links pointing to one page, or are they evenly distributed throughout the site?

Internal Links: Look at Top Linked Pages under Internal Links. Do pages on your site link to other important pages on your site?

Check Mobile Usability Errors

How’s the Graph of the Number of Pages Indexed?

We want to see the number of pages indexed slowly growing over time. Too fast looks fishy, no growth shows Google your site doesn’t have fresh content.

Top Linking Text

Read through the list of content. Does is seem like an accurate description of the content on the site?

Coverage Issues

Are there any crawl errors or warnings?

Sitemaps

Is there an XML Sitemap in place? Are there any warnings or errors?

Page Speed Insights

What’s the mobile page speed score for a page on the site? What’s the desktop page speed for a page on the site?
